TOLEDO — Napavine coach Henry Gallanger and Toledo coach Horst Malunat are no strangers — they’re both coaches for the Toledo-Winlock boys soccer team — but here on Tuesday night they were rival coaches in a Central 2B soccer matchup. In the end, the more experienced Tigers came away with a 5-2 victory thanks to three goals from midfielder Sage Atkins and two goals from Grace Hamre.
“It was a pretty electric 10-15 minutes to begin the game and both teams were hyped and excited,” Gallanger said. “It was a great atmosphere and it was stressful but my girls did some in-game adjustments and by the second half, they were firing on all cylinders.”
Toledo scored quickly as Courtney Moore notched a goal in the second minute thanks to a Hannah Ethridge assist. Napavine speedster Grace Hamre used a Kenya Lorton assist for a goal in the sixth minute, and did the same thing again in the seventh minute for the 2-1 lead.
